Work Packages

The URBAN-project has the following research goals, organized into three work packages.

WP1 - Congestion dynamics and space

Goal 1: To develop new models for urban congestion management that handle the dynamics of congested demand peaks, allowing for hypercongestion.
Goal 2: To integrate these models with urban economic models.
Goal 3: To develop new economic appraisal methods that take into account the effects of agglomeration on productivity, wages and employment.

WP2 - Productivity and agglomeration

Goal 4: Quantify the causal relationships whereby transport and land use policies affect productivity, wages and employment through their impact on the functioning of the labor market.
Goal 5: Quantify the effects of transport and land use policies on the size and shape of cities, and the patterns of residential and work location.

WP3 - Residential location, commuting and car ownership

Goal 6: Develop and estimate a dynamic equilibrium model for the interaction of household car ownership and use with the choice of residential and work locations.
Goal 7: Quantify the effects on household car ownership and use along with the choice of residential and work locations resulting from changes in the taxation of cars.
